Marble Funerary Stele

Dating to the second half of the 19th century, this marble relief would have originally been part of a larger funerary monument. Having spent nearly a century outdoors, the stele was covered with a thick sulphation crust over much of its surface, rendering it illegible. The removal of the sulphation crust with the laser has greatly improved the aesthetic appearance of the relief and resulted in details that had been obscured to be revealed.
